Welcome to a new year in first grade.

2014-2015
Welcome to a new year!!   We are very busy in our first grade class. I have some pictures I can't wait to share with you!

In September we took class pictures under the Maple Tree in the school yard.  We will be watching this tree make changes each season.

It had just emerged and was clinging to it's now clear chrysalis.

We were just getting to release her.

Here she was on a slice of apple just before she took flight.

It's hard to believe it's the end of the year!
Here are a few pictures of the kids having fun at the field day on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.

It was a great year!  I will miss these kids!
Have a great summer!!
Read, Read, and Read some more.  :)

In JA (Junior Achievement) we have been learning about how families and communities help one another.  Miss Bobbie is a business owner and a volunteer who comes in to our room each week to teach us some concepts of economics. We are learning about needs, wants, how people earn money by providing goods /services to others (jobs) and how money simplifies trade.  Here are some recent pictures I took of the kids.  They were excited to each take home a hat to show they were a "worker".

Hi Families,
It has been a while since I have noted anything on my blog.  We are super busy in first grade as you can imagine.  I am adding past newsletters to the newsletter section, which includes pictures I have recently taken of the kids.

We are all excited about spring!  We made a habitat in our classroom to house bugs, so as your child finds some, we will add them to our habitat to observe for the next month.  Then we will release them back to nature in June.  Thank you!

Happy New Year!

It has been a while since I last posted something.  (It feels like a while since I've been with your children.)  They have all transitioned wonderfully back into school and learning.  I am attaching a newsletter with some pictures of some things we've done in class the past 2 days.  (See page 3 of the newsletter.) I will post more class winter pictures once we are able to get outside.

Stay warm and read a great book!

We had a wonderful feast today!  The kids were very excited.  Thank you so much for the donations you made to our class. We had a few grandmothers and parents that were here to help assemble all the costumes and plates of food.

Here are the pictures I took this morning.  In some of the pictures you will see a small basket and a microphone.  Each child said one thing they were thankful for and placed a cranberry in the basket while they did this.  Some of the things they were thankful for were: Their families, electricity, toys, chairs to sit on, (The pilgrim children didn't have stools to sit on at the table. They served their parents.), food, and more.

Look at their happy faces!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
